I first started blogging as an accountability measure for 101 list for Project Zero way back when. My posts consisted of updates on my progress with my goals, sharing recipes I had discovered, and the odd post about my personal life. (Odd as in random, not that my personal life is odd…) But I admit, that I wasn’t very good at keeping up with it. I would write a post or two and then forget I had a blog until two months later. When I started Finding My Way, I wanted this to be a fresh start. (Some of my original blog posts are now here, check out the archives.)
My intention for this blog was to keep regularly share how God was working in my life. I wanted to share His wonderfulness with others, even those who who I’ve never met. Share the little things, and posts that were not centered around Him. But that has changed in a way, and I think I may have found my niche.
If you read this post of mine, you know that I am Christian and my husband is not. As I mentioned in that post, there are lots of blogs and websites with marriage advice for Christians. And there are lots of blogs and websites with marriage advice for non-Christians. But I haven’t found any that focus on mixed-religion marriages. I cannot be the only woman (or man!) who is with someone else who differs in their beliefs from their significant other.
It can be really difficult emotionally to be married to someone who does not believe as you do. At times you feel alone because the others in your faith group often are married to others who share your beliefs, they can’t imagine attending church/Mass/Temple/prayers alone. You struggle with your own spiritual journey, and at times if feels like there is no one to talk to. It can be tough. But it can also be a wonderful journey that pushes you to truly understand your own beliefs as well as your partners.
But if this is you, you are not alone! I am here!! And I know that God wants me to share these struggles with others so that we all know that we are just part of a strange club; we are definitely not alone.
If you are in a mixed beliefs marriage/relationship (or even if you’re not!) and have some ideas or questions that you would like for me to focus on, please let me know!! You can leave a comment below or email me at uphillanddown(at)gmail(dot)com.
