In the past few years or so I have learned to no longer be afraid of “new”. It’s kinda of like when people say that they have learned to say “yes” more. Instead of being afraid of “new”, I have been trying to embrace it instead.
I like routine, and I like the comfort of something familiar. But just as I mentioned in my A post, I also like having adventures and exploring life. I am gradually learning to embrace new experiences and adventures, new people and new ideas. It has admittedly not always been easy. There have been moments when I have been very scared to take the plunge into New, and some where I have doubted myself and ability to succeed. But in the end, I have felt that I have grown and have lived a fuller life. Just as with adventures, venturing into New does not have to be fancy or grand in scale. It can be as simple as changing a habit.
Here are some of my News in the past two years:
- zip lining
- traveling abroad alone
- hosting a family holiday
- a new job!
- making my own laundry detergent
- running a half marathon
- starting/working on my Masters
- running a 10k
- learning to cook Indian food
- driving overseas
- using reusable feminine products (not as gross as you think)
- using deodorant (versus an antiperspirant)
- and of course, getting married!!!!
What New will you try tomorrow?
After all, tomorrow is another day. – Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind
