Today’s reading is Psalm 38
I have felt like David, like the lowest of the low, heavy with burdens and sin. Feeling so far away from everything. Feeling so weary and worn that you don’t remember happy. At first read this Psalm almost seems to carry more darkness than it does light, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We are not alone.
Our sins are a burden heavy with shame and fear, but God does not want us to carry that burden. He wants us to come to him, as David did, repentant and seeking forgiveness, and it will be given to us. It will be given to us.
Life is not always happy or filled with light, but God is always there. Even in the dark times, when we feel so alone and as if we are being crushed by life. God is there.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and leaner from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30, NIV)
Even on the toughest of days we can find comfort in Him, and He is always there for you. Take a moment and breathe that in. Know that He is your God, and He loves you. Sit for a moment wrapped in that love. He will always love you.
Have a blessed Friday!
