(#SheReadsTruth is trying something new for Lent! They’re calling it Friday Devotionals, how it works is the week’s Friday Scripture is posted on Monday, and on Friday all us gals that want to, link to our our devotionals to SheReadsTruth’s website. Isn’t that exciting?!! I am so pumped! This will be my first time doing something like this, and I am looking forward to growing through these posts. Please let me know what you think!!)
This Friday’s scripture is: Psalm 130
“Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord” (v. 1)
How many times have I felt like that? Feeling like there was nothing I could do except cry to the Lord… for anything! Peace, guidance, love, forgiveness… the list goes on and on. But the best part of that cry? God always hears me, and He always will, and He will always forgive me.
God does not keep a record of our sins, if He did none of us could stand, but there is forgiveness. For God created a new covenant with us in which He “..will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34, NIV, emphasis mine)
And that new covenant is through Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23-24 puts it so perfectly:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.”
God’s love for us never goes away no matter how many time we may fall or stumble, and He does not have some big accounting book where our sins are held against us. He wants to have a relationship with us, He wants us to come back. And if we come to Him seeking forgiveness, it is freely given, and our sins are forgotten. God’s unwavering love and grace can be so overwhelming at times, but it is also perhaps the most comforting thing in the world.
Have a wonderful love-filled Friday!!
