I haven’t used shampoo in almost a month. Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
I first found this idea on Pinterest, the perfect time waster, and it intrigued me. The idea of not using shampoo never really occurred to me, and I wanted to give it a try. After all, what could be the worst that could happen? If it turned out to be a bad idea, I would just wash my hair with shampoo and go on with my life.
I used this post that I found on Pinterest as my reference. I mix up the baking soda and water in a tupperware that stays in the shower so I can scoop out the gloopy mix as I need it. I don’t really measure, I add some baking soda and add water until its a watery-gloop. (Very scientific, I know.) For the rinse I followed the post to the letter, and added 2 T of cider vinegar to a cup of water. I keep this in a jar under our sink, and keep a small travel bottle in the shower to use. While in the shower, I scrub my scalp with the baking soda, and then rinse. Then I pour a little bit of the cider mix into my cupped palm and rub it into the ends of my hair. This part is a little tricky since my hair is short, and you should avoid getting the vinegar on your scalp.
And how is my hair now? It has been so happy! My hair, usually very thin and fine, now feels a lot thicker, and softer. Dan, who has a habit of playing with my hair and messing it up quick nicely, tells me that my hair is a lot nicer to touch now. I have run into a few days when my hair got super greasy, but I cut back on the vinegar as was recommended and it fixed itself.
